Syntrillium Software was a company that specialized in audio editing software for Windows computers. It was founded in the early 1990s by Robert Ellison and David Johnston, who both used to work for Microsoft. The company's flagship product was Cool Edit, a powerful and versatile audio editor that was initially distributed as crippleware, meaning that some features were disabled until the user paid for a license. Cool Edit was praised for its flexibility and usefulness, especially for its time. Syntrillium later released an upgraded version called Cool Edit Pro, which added the ability to work with multiple audio tracks and other advanced features. However, at that time, most computers were not capable of performing non-destructive audio processing in real-time, so Cool Edit Pro had to modify the original audio files directly. This changed with Cool Edit Pro v2, which introduced support for real-time non-destructive processing and surround sound mixing. It also allowed users to work with unlimited simultaneous tracks, depending on their computer hardware. Cool Edit Pro also included various plugins for enhancing the audio quality, such as noise reduction and FFT equalization. Cool Edit Pro supported a wide range of audio file formats and codecs, both for importing and exporting . It also licensed and integrated the original Fraunhofer MP3 encoder, which was one of the first and most popular MP3 encoders at the time. In May 2003, Adobe Systems acquired Syntrillium Software for $16.5 million , along with a large loop library called "Loopology". Adobe then renamed Cool Edit Pro to "Adobe Audition" and continued to develop it as a digital audio workstation. Here are some more paragraphs:

Version 2 [ edit] Adobe Audition 2 was released on January 17, 2006. With this release, Audition (which the music recording industry had once seen as a value-oriented home studio application, although it has long been used for editing by radio stations) entered the professional studio recording market. Almost all of the features in Cool Edit Pro 2.1 were retained in Audition 2.0, with some improvements and new features such as low-latency mixing with unlimited tracks, ASIO support, VST effect and instrument support, enhanced spectral editing tools, and a redesigned user interface. Audition 2 also introduced a new file format called SESX (Session Exchange), which replaced the old SES format and was compatible with XML. Audition 2 also added a new feature called Royalty-Free Content, which included thousands of loops and sound effects that users could use in their projects without paying any royalties.

Version 3 [ edit] Adobe Audition 3 was released on November 8, 2007. It introduced more powerful audio editing tools, such as the Spot Healing Brush tool, the Auto Heal tool, the Effects Paintbrush tool, and the Marquee Selection tool. It also added new features such as MIDI sequencing and recording, MIDI virtual instruments, MIDI hardware support, audio quantization and stretching, pitch correction, CD burning and extraction, video import and playback, and surround sound mixing and encoding. Audition 3 also improved the performance and stability of the program, and added support for Windows Vista. Audition 3 was the last version to be released as a standalone product; after that, it became part of the Adobe Creative Suite (later Creative Cloud) family of products.

Version 4 (CS5.5) [ edit] Adobe Audition CS5.5 was released on April 11, 2011 as part of Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium and Master Collection. It was the first version to be integrated with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 and After Effects CS5.5 through Dynamic Link. It also added new features such as native multichannel support for 5.1 surround sound editing and mixing, automatic speech alignment for ADR (automated dialogue replacement), noise reduction and restoration tools, clip grouping and editing, batch processing and scripting capabilities, spectral frequency display mode for precise editing, and roundtrip editing with Adobe Soundbooth CS5. Audition CS5.5 also changed its file format from SESX to XMP (Extensible Metadata Platform), which allowed users to exchange metadata with other Adobe applications. 0efd9a6b88
